ABI Day Program

Location:  Paula Cassin Learning Centre - 300 New Toronto Street, Unit 1, Toronto, ON

Wednesdays:  10:30 - 12:00 pm

You will enhance your cooking skills, as well as, learn new ones in the kitchen. The focus is on vegetarian cooking. You will enjoy the meal together afterwards and take any leftovers home.

ABI Day Program

Tuesdays:  (you can only register for one session)

i) 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

ii) 1:00 - 2:00 pm

You will work on your individual goals around learning to use the computer. You will have access to your own computer during the program time and you will have your own binder dedicated to information relevant to your learning.

 

 

ABI Day Program

Tuesdays - 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

You will enhance your cooking skills and enable independence in meal preparation. You will work on reading and understanding the recipe, preparing ingredients and using correct tools, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.

 

 

Location:  20 Palace Street, Main Floor Community Room

THURSDAYS (Every two weeks) - 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

In this program you will have opportunities to work on projects based on your personal interests and materials that are being used.  Materials and assistance from staff are adapted to each artist’s individual needs – custom easels, placement and modification of supplies, etc.  Art supplies are provided but you are also welcome to bring your own materials.

You can choose to learn about a technique that is new to you or explore using new materials or set-up, and this will be customized for you.

Caregivers Support Group

for the spouse/partner or parent of someone diagnosed with Huntington Disease (HD)

Hosted by PACE Independent Living and facilitated by the Huntington Society of Canada’s Social Worker (for Toronto and York Region), this session is an opportunity to meet and share with others experiencing life with a family member that has HD. The intent of the afternoon is to offer a safe and confidential setting to break the isolation and stimulate shared learning for the “caregiver”. This session is only open to spouses/partners and non-effected parents of an individual who has Huntington Disease or the HD gene.

SATURDAYS – 1:00 – 2:00 pm

You will have the chance to practice a range of attention, memory, language and problem solving skills using games and puzzles. You will also have the option to sign up with Lumosity - an online program that offers games to practice these skills and track your progress.

SATURDAYS - 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

You will have the opportunity to experience flavours from around the world. Recipes are chosen from different cultures with a range of spices, ingredients and cooking methods. You will enhance your cooking skills and enable independence in meal preparation.

ABI Day Program

SATURDAYS – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

You will be working different parts of your body while participating in stretching, building muscle, improving reflexes and cardio exercises.  In addition there will be group physical activities to promote team work, attention/concentration and relationship building.

FRIDAYS – 1:00 – 2:30 pm

You will have a chance to express yourself through music.  You will be able to dance and sing along with popular songs.  This workshop is geared toward having fun and spending time with others in a group.

FRIDAYS – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

You will enhance your baking skills, as well as, learn new skills in the kitchen. The focus is on making pastries and desserts. You will enjoy the goodies together afterwards and take any leftovers home.Â
