ABI Day program

Location: The Paula Cassin Learning Centre

Tuesdays - 10:30 am -12:00 pm

You will work on your individual goals that are relevant to your needs when learning to use the computer.  This could include, but is not limited to, practicing simple and complex tasks using Microsoft Office, internet browsing and email.  As well as, typing skills, managing photos from your camera and booking Wheel Trans.

This program is a way to let you talk about the issues that are important to you.  You will be able to write articles and create a newsletter that reflects what is important in your life.  You will be responsible for editing and formatting, as well as, staying on a timeline.  By doing this you will add to your computer, writing, time management and group working skills.

You will be working out different parts of your body while participating in stretching, building muscle and cardio exercises.  In addition there will be group physical activities to promote team work, attention/concentration and relationship building.

It is recommended that participants come dressed in suitable clothing for exercising and in running shoes.

This session is designed to give you a chance to express yourself through music. You will be able to play instruments and sing along with popular songs.  Song books with lyrics will be provided so that if you don’t know the words you can still sing along.  This workshop is geared toward having fun and spending time with others in a group.

Due to the popularity of this program - this is the same program that is offered on Wednesdays.

This cooking program is designed to help enhance your existing skills and enable independence in meal preparation.  You will be encouraged to attempt the recipes at home and transfer the newly-learned skills to your own kitchens! The group will enjoy the meal together afterwards and will be able to take any leftovers home.

This program is designed to help individuals explore the visual arts by providing a safe space and opportunity to develop a unique artistic style.  Individuals will engage in weekly activities but will also be encouraged to engage in independent art activities.

This program gives Members a chance to socialize outside of the workshop environment.  You will have an opportunity to experience new things, learn about different topics and be active in the community.  The outings will be offered once a month and the other three weeks will be a two hour game workshop.  During game time, you will be able to socialize in the group, while playing games/doing activities of the groups choosing.

The Bakery Club program is designed to enhance your existing skills, as well as, learn new skills in the kitchen.  The focus is specifically geared towards baking pastry and desserts.  The group will enjoy the goodies together afterwards and will be able to take any leftovers home.

Connect with other members through shared experiences.  This safe space will help you feel heard and supported, share coping strategies and resources, that have worked for you, and increase your community involvement.
