Mental Health Support during COVID

Bounceback - is part of an expansion of online and virtual mental health supports by the Ontario government to help those struggling with challenges related to COVID-19. Since April, BounceBack has increased coaching capacity, and has added clinical oversight and staff to support program participants.

Hospice Palliative Care Ontario - Individuals with training and credentials in grief, bereavement, spiritual support, and emotional support are available to listen and help you. The Helpline team have extensive experience and understand the unique needs of health care workers. 

Ontario Psychological Association - 211 Ontario and the Ontario Psychological Association partner to ensure frontline workers in all industries & their families get the care they need, when they need it.

General Assistance:

Service Canada - eservices - In response to COVID-19, Service Canada has launched a number of new virtual e-services to continue to provide support to individuals who need assistance to access benefits and services from their home.  The Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) is essential for accessing government services and benefits.   The Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) is essential for accessing government services and benefits.  Through the the eSIN portal, individuals can submit a SIN application entirely online within a secure and protected environment.    Additionally the eService Canada portal allows individuals requiring assistance from Service Canada to submit an online request and receive a callback from a Service Canada officer within two  business days.  .

Canadian Association for Community LivingCACL is sharing disability-related resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic on this page, pulled together in one spot for families.

Ontario Caregiver Association - find out about organizations that are helping out in your area by delivering groceries, medication and other essentials or by offering a friendly voice and social support.

https://covid19.211central.ca/ - priority services that are available during the COVID-19 pandemic including: food banks, food delivery, housing support, mental health support.

Ontario Community Support - helping isolated, low-income seniors and people with disabilities and chronic medical conditions across Ontario get meals, groceries, medicine and other essentials to stay safe at home during COVID-19.

North York COVID Support Services - helping seniors with in need.  They are committed to help with essential services such as: meals on wheels, grocery delivery, prescription pick-up, medication assistance and reminders, rides to medical appointments, personal care visits, case management/social work and wellness checks.  Call 416.447.5200.

Child Care - learn about emergency child care for health care and other frontline staff working to stop the spread of COVID-19. Select child care centres are allowed to open during the outbreak.

Financial Assistance:

Federal Government announces direct financial support for people with disabilities - A one-time, tax-free payment will be provided to all Canadians who are certificate holders of the Disability Tax Credit. Payments will be distributed along the following lines:

    • $600 for Canadians with an eligible Disability Tax Credit certificate
    • $300 for Canadians with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate and who are eligible for the Old Age Security (OAS) pension.
    • $100 for Canadians with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate and who are eligible for the OAS pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).

In addition to this one-time top up, the government has stated its commitment to invest $15 million into the creation of the National Workplace Accessibility Stream through the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. Lastly, $1.18 million will be used across five new projects under the Accessible Technology Program.  Read more here.

COVID-19 support for current Ontario Works and ODSP recipients  - Ontario Works and ODSP recipients are eligible for emergency benefits for COVID-19 related expenses.

Applying for Employment Insurance - the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) may provide you with temporary income support.
